Though not that frequently used, perception is in the center of everything. You are a pessimist or an optimist based on your perception of things and situations.
There is a lot of stress in human life, from what I hear, a lot medical conditions are also caused by stress. What is the solution? How can you relieve stress? I believe most of you would agree that the best way to relieve stress is to either rest or meditate. But consider this, another way to relieve stress is to change your perception!
Sit back, and look at the situation that is the root cause of havoc in your life from a different point of view. If it is difficult for you to do it, then talk to someone who can give you a whole new prospective. The reason I am saying this is because, it has actually helped me and at times I believe helped some of my friends who share their life problems with me.
To give it more weight, I'll share a recent inecedent. I lost a major client. All of sudden my 70% income was gone. Everyone in the office was tensed, they were afraid they would loose their jobs. My partner was afraid about finances. It was a panicky situation. Somehow that night I slept like a baby. Since then, I have been able to start two new companies, sleep well and almost all of my worries are gone. Whereas my team, is still in a state of shock.
I believe that what made me so relaxed and optimistic is my perception - I saw us loosing the client as an opportunity to do more stuff; whereas my team just saw the down side of loosing a client, and their natural survival instincts kicked in (which, by the way, were nothing but get panicked).
